Why Beverly Hills 90210?
As a matter of fact, I was not very interrested in Beverly Hills, 90210 when the show started to be broadcast. The first full episode I have watched was the one in which Dylan's father car explosed and it was only because at one of my friend's house. Then, my high school years came, the show was aired during the summer (no more school, yippie ki-yay) from its first season and at the rhythm of 1 episode a day. It became an endless summer as I started to be be addicted to the show.
Among the great things of BH90210, it was one of the first shows to speak to a younger audience and we grow up with it. Beverly Hills was obviously a place to live extraordinary lives but we could easily identify ourselves to the Walsh family (ha... the famous casa Walsh) and to some extent even the other members of the cast (Andrea is coming from a poor family, Kelly & Donna cannot buy the perfume they want, Steve can hardly help Brandon with its gambling problems, Dylan will lost everything, and no, David Silver is not the son of Joel Silver). Finally, the Daren Star idea to give the 2 major roles to 2 kids coming from the Midwest was pure genius.
